Rhubarb Swirls

SHORTCAKE:    
2 cups flour
2 T. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/3 cup shortening -- cut in batter
1 cup milk -- stir in batter
     
SYRUP:    
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
     
     
     

Instructions

Combine first four ingredients in mixing bowl. Cut in shortening and add milk. Roll out shortcake-not too thin- and place 3 cups cut up rhubarb, 2 T. oleo and 1 T. cinnamon on rolled out shortcake. Roll up cinnamon roll style and cut in slices. Place in greased pan. Pour hot syrup over slices. Bake in hot oven at 450 degrees for approximately 20 minutes. Serve with ice cream.
